Tharaka Green Gold is transforming beekeeping into a sustainable and empowering livelihood for communities in Tharaka Nithi County.
By combining indigenous knowledge with modern hive technology, we train local farmers especially women and youth to produce high-quality honey while conserving the environment.
Our beekeeping initiative supports food security, climate resilience, and income generation, turning Tharaka’s natural potential into a source of pride and prosperity.

TGGCEN distributes locally appropriate beehives both traditional log hives and Langstroth hives—to smallholder farmers. Through ongoing mentorship and field demonstrations, we guide beekeepers on hive management, harvesting, hygiene, and value addition.
We process honey using modern equipment to meet food safety standards under our trusted community brand, Champion Mothers Honey a symbol of resilience, quality, and care.
Over the years, this project has helped households diversify their income, improved nutrition, and elevated women’s economic roles.
Beekeeping has also strengthened the community’s voice in environmental conservation and participation in agribusiness.
TGGCEN’s model demonstrates how locally-driven innovation can create dignified, sustainable livelihoods that honour progress.
